Dry Bones

Today's WELS devotion that our staff shared this morning focused on Ezekiel's Valley of Dry Bones.  What would you say if God came to you and asked if sun bleached, dead human bones would live?  My first thought would be NO!  Everyone knows dead is dead, but with God ANYTHING is possible.  He and He alone is ABLE to do ANYTHING.  God answers Ezekiel: Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!  This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”   (Ezekiel 37: 4-6)

In our struggles today, focus on what God is able to do, beyond our feeble human reasoning.  He gives us the privilege of participating, just as Ezekiel was allowed to prophesy to the bones, but He and He alone DOES the work through His holy Word.

Thank Him everyday for our substitute, Jesus Christ and that through His resurrections, we too have life forever!
